If you like the music of Bonnie Raitt, Amy Winehouse, Joss Stone or Nina Simone, you will love Red Bird’s music.”

The result is a band that is unabashedly soulful with elements of blues and roots. Gregg’s formal vocal training is evident in her ability to trade in both tenderness and sheer force.”

[Bre Gregg has] this great voice, forceful one minute, tender the next, controlled yet simmering with feeling.”

Bio

Red Bird is a wildly soulful band that communicates through powerful, vulnerable vocals and mind-bending guitar features.

To say that Bre Gregg has musical attention deficit disorder would be an understatement. Bre has sung jazz, soul, blues, Americana and roots in her tenure as a vocalist. She loves music like it’s her third child, and you can hear it in the soul with which she sings. Her experience and adoration for these different styles of music make an unforgettable foundation for her original Americana, which boasts elements of soul, jazz and blues and exudes deep passion for the craft.

Bre and guitarist, Dan Gildea have written songs and performed together for many years, which has melded them together musically and allowed them to share the lead on-stage in a way that is both powerful and organic. Backed by groove masters Jeff Langston on bass and Edwin Coleman III on drums, Red Bird has a sound you can’t help but feel. Their sound has been described as “unabashedly soulful with elements of blues and roots” by Vortex Magazine, and Good Day Oregon compares them to an impressive list of artists including Bonnie Raitt, Amy Winehouse and Joss Stone.

Red Bird has graced many preeminent stages in the Pacific Northwest with their favorites being the historic Alberta Rose Theatre, the Waterfront Blues Festival, Cathedral Park Jazz Festival, Portland Jazz Festival, Bite of Oregon, Silverton Jazz Festival, the Craterian Theater in Medford, Oregon, Everett Theater in Everett, Washington, the Kink Performance Lounge, Wildcraft Cider and Art in the Vineyard in Eugene, Oregon, the Washington State Fair, and the Left Bank Annex. They have shared stages with iconic local performers such as Lady A and Edna Vasquez of Pink Martini. Additionally, they have had radio play and live performances on Good Day Oregon, KMHD, KINK, KBOO and the Portland Radio Project, as well as feature articles in the Portland Mercury, Portland Tribune, Jazz Society of Oregon and Vortex Music Magazine.

Red Bird has release two EPs, four song “Beautiful” in 2019 and 7 song “All My Love” in 2018, as well as a full-length live album recorded at the Alberta Rose Theater. They are currently working on their first full length album with engineer Justin Phelps (Cake, The Mars Volta) at the Hallowed Halls in Portland, Oregon. The album, which will be titled “Live It All”, tells stories of being human on this crazy planet, and reflects the new musical direction for the band. The album will feature Steve Swatkins on B3, giving the band’s sound a fresh new life that they are excited to release into the world.
